“The Ebony African Association is an informal intellectual alignment and workshop, established for the studying, exploring, educating, nurturing and promoting of the culture, tradition and intellectual heritage of African communities living in various parts of the world.”

Our organization was officially registered in 2003.

Our activities

• Operation of a club, which African people and their relatives living here can visit any day of the week to chat, or watch African TV programs etc.;
• We frequently organize club nights with traditional programs;
• We provide assistance and help for members of the African community with their administrative and legal issues, with the searching of apartments and jobs, and with other everyday difficulties;
• We organize cultural programs, trainings;
• Our traditional group, the Imose Cultural Group performs at various events;
• Our miniature library is open to anyone who is interested in books about African and Afro-American culture, in English or Hungarian;
• We welcome volunteers any time

In the past years we participated at numerous international and national conferences, campaigns, we contributed to events related to equality, anti-racism and culture, and we also established close work relations with several other organizations.

The main objectives of the Ebony African Association:

1. The facilitation of integration of African people living in Hungary;
2. The creation of opportunities for those who are interested in Africa, to get to know better the values and diversity of the continent;
3. Involvement in international projects in order to assist the development of regions which need it most.

Acting up to our foundation principles, we operate on many fields:

• Cultural events, e.g.: organization of festivals, exhibitions, workshops;
• Presence in the media, brochures, radio and television shows;
• Contact and cooperation with Hungarian and international cultural, social and development cooperation organizations;
• Foreign affairs, in order to strengthen Hungarian African relations, and to facilitate the integration of African people and other foreigners living here;
• Legal activities, projects about human, minority and civil rights, the improvement of living conditions of refugees;
• Community building, the gathering of all Africa-related initiatives and African people living here;
• Development and cooperation projects with/in developing countries, charity nights;
• Collection of aids for disadvantaged groups and regions, volunteer programs in these regions;
• Environment and nature protecting activities

In the future we hope to establish an institution for the better realization of the above listed goals.
